On June 3, 2015, the Community Living Center (CLC) celebrated its 30th anniversary. VA Central California Health Care System congratulates the CLC on 30 years of exemplary service to Central Valley Veterans.
Historically, the Nursing Home Care Unit (NHCU) opened in June of 1985 and the 54-bed unit became the Geriatric Extended Care Unit. Aligning with the greater mission of the VA, the CLC evolved into a rehabilitation specialty facility, offering skilled nursing and rehabilitative care.
Since opening, CLC boasts minimum employee turnover a true testament to the commitment and dedication of the men and women caring for our Veterans every day.
Dr. Paulette Ginier, Associate Chief of Staff of Geriatric Extended Care Service attributes the success to the commitment of over 70 dedicated employees, inclusive of a myriad of clinical and administrative support from RNs, LVNs, Nursing Assistants, Medical Support Assistants, Recreational Therapists, Pharmacists, as well as, a Dietician, Physical Therapist, Physician, Physician Assistant/Aide, Associate Chief Nurse, Administrative Officer, Nurse Educator, Resident Assessment Coordinator, and the invaluable support received from VA Volunteers and Environmental Management Service.
Veteran residents have access to a dedicated physical therapy room and outdoor gardens, in addition to a day room that also serves as a recreation area for live entertainment and bingo.
In recognition of 30 years of exemplary service to Veterans, residents and employees were treated to a special Hawaiian-themed celebration meal.
Suenell Tordini, Associate Chief Nurse has been with the CLC since day one and affectionately refers to the facility as “The Community Loving Center!”
